AeroPerch is building the ground infrastructure that autonomous drone fleets need to operate at scale. Today most drones fly short missions and return to where they started, because there is nowhere along the way to recharge or offload data. Our field-deployed nodes give drones a place to land, charge wirelessly, exchange data and keep flying, turning one-off flights into continuous operations. Our first customers are in energy and critical infrastructure, with agriculture, public safety and defense to follow.
About the team
We are a small, early team with backgrounds in defense, aerospace and technology. The software team builds the platform that coordinates our nodes and the drones that use them, across many drone types and operators. We integrate proven tools where they fit and build what does not exist yet.
About the job
We are looking for a Data Engineer to build the pipelines that give our operators a live, trusted picture of the airspace. You will bring together data from our nodes, the drones on our network and outside aviation sources, and share it safely with the people who need it.
What you'll do
- Build pipelines that ingest airspace and flight data, including ADS-B, Remote ID, weather and airspace restrictions
- Combine data from nodes, drones and outside sources into a shared view of the airspace
- Build services that share flight information with operators and approved third parties
- Integrate with certified airspace data providers and FAA data services
- Own data quality, latency and reliability for safety-critical use
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with real-time streaming systems (Kafka, Kinesis or similar)
- Proficient in Python and SQL, with cloud data infrastructure experience
- Experience with geospatial data (PostGIS or similar)
- U.S. Person status is required, as this position requires access to export-controlled information
Preferred qualifications
- Aviation data: ADS-B, Remote ID, NOTAMs, UTM or LAANC
- FAA data services or airspace management systems
- Time-series databases
- Safety-critical or regulated data systems
- FAA Part 107 or a manned pilot certificate
