Deployment Engineer

  • Full-time
  • U.S. Person required
Apply for this role

AeroPerch is building the ground infrastructure that autonomous drone fleets need to operate at scale. Today most drones fly short missions and return to where they started, because there is nowhere along the way to recharge or offload data. Our field-deployed nodes give drones a place to land, charge wirelessly, exchange data and keep flying, turning one-off flights into continuous operations. Our first customers are in energy and critical infrastructure, with agriculture, public safety and defense to follow.

About the team

We are a small, early team with backgrounds in defense, aerospace and technology. The field operations team installs, commissions and supports our nodes at customer sites, from utility corridors to open range. What we learn in the field goes straight back into the product.

About the job

We are looking for a Deployment Engineer to get our nodes into the field and keep them running. You will be the hands-on link between our engineering team and our customers during pilots and early deployments.

What you'll do

  • Survey customer sites and plan node placement, power and communications
  • Install, commission and test nodes in the field, including base installation, power hookup and network setup
  • Train customer operators on using our nodes and software
  • Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software issues on site and remotely
  • Report field issues and customer feedback to engineering
  • Write installation procedures and maintenance guides

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent technical experience (military experience counts)
  • 2+ years of field engineering, installation or commissioning experience
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, batteries, solar and networking
  • Willing to travel frequently and work outdoors in all conditions
  • Valid driver's license and able to lift 50 lb
  • U.S. Person status is required, as this position requires access to export-controlled information

Preferred qualifications

  • Utility, telecom, solar or EV charging field work
  • FAA Part 107 certificate and drone operations experience
  • Military unmanned aircraft, communications or engineering experience
  • Electrical or safety certifications (NABCEP, OSHA 10 or 30)
  • Customer-facing experience
