AeroPerch is building the ground infrastructure that autonomous drone fleets need to operate at scale. Today most drones fly short missions and return to where they started, because there is nowhere along the way to recharge or offload data. Our field-deployed nodes give drones a place to land, charge wirelessly, exchange data and keep flying, turning one-off flights into continuous operations. Our first customers are in energy and critical infrastructure, with agriculture, public safety and defense to follow.
About the team
We are a small, early team with backgrounds in defense, aerospace and technology. The hardware team owns the node end to end: the wireless charging system, power electronics, enclosure and field integration. We move quickly from simulation to bench to field, and every engineer works hands-on across disciplines.
About the job
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to help design, build and test our wireless charging and node electronics. You will work at the bench alongside senior engineers and research partners, and you will write the firmware that runs our power hardware. This is an early-career role with real ownership from day one.
What you'll do
- Build and test power converter prototypes for wireless charging and node power
- Design schematics and PCB layouts for control, sensing and power boards
- Write embedded firmware for the microcontrollers that control charging, monitor sensors and talk to the rest of the system
- Bring up new boards and debug issues that span hardware and firmware
- Build test fixtures, run bench tests and document results
- Work with mechanical and software engineers to integrate electronics into the node
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- 0-3 years of experience, including internships, research or project work in power electronics or embedded systems
- Hands-on experience building and testing circuits in a lab
- Embedded C/C++ programming on microcontrollers (STM32, TI C2000 or similar)
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCad or equivalent)
- Comfortable with oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads and multimeters
- U.S. Person status is required, as this position requires access to export-controlled information
Preferred qualifications
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power electronics
- Coursework or research in switched-mode power supplies, motor drives or battery charging
- Digital control of power converters
- Communication protocols (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet)
- Python for test automation and data analysis
- Project team experience with drones, robotics, EVs or solar (Formula SAE, solar car or similar)
