AeroPerch is building the ground infrastructure that autonomous drone fleets need to operate at scale. Today most drones fly short missions and return to where they started, because there is nowhere along the way to recharge or offload data. Our field-deployed nodes give drones a place to land, charge wirelessly, exchange data and keep flying, turning one-off flights into continuous operations. Our first customers are in energy and critical infrastructure, with agriculture, public safety and defense to follow.
About the team
We are a small, early team with backgrounds in defense, aerospace and technology. The hardware team owns the node end to end: the wireless charging system, power electronics, communications, enclosure and field integration. We move quickly from simulation to bench to field, and every engineer works hands-on across disciplines.
About the job
We are looking for a Systems Engineer to turn customer and regulatory needs into clear requirements, and to make sure the charging, power, communications, mechanical and software pieces of the node work together as one product.
What you'll do
- Write and own system requirements based on customer, regulatory and field needs
- Define the interfaces between hardware, firmware, software and drones
- Lead design reviews and track technical risks and tradeoffs
- Plan verification and validation, and trace test results back to requirements
- Work with customers and pilot partners to capture needs and feedback
- Manage configuration and documentation as the product matures
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
- 4+ years of systems engineering experience on hardware products
- Demonstrated experience with requirements, interface control and verification and validation
- Experience with electromechanical systems that include embedded software
- Clear technical writing and the ability to work across disciplines
- U.S. Person status is required, as this position requires access to export-controlled information
Preferred qualifications
- Aerospace, defense or unmanned aircraft programs
- FAA, FCC or UL certification processes
- Model-based systems engineering tools (Cameo, SysML or similar)
- Utility, energy or field-deployed equipment
- Active security clearance
